3 THINGS MONEY CAN'T BUY

What matters most in your Life?  For some it's a difficult question to answer, some others knows what matters best in their lives.  Almost all of us are obsessed in getting anything and everything that money can buy.  Possessions really distracts us from the very things that matters most in life, that is to say, the things that money cannot buy.

The love of money causes all kinds of troubles.  From personal to societal issues.  Putting too much emphasis on material things affects one's relationships especially in the family.  Take a look in this picture.

We can see that the Father works so hard, he sometimes does overtime just to have his family everything they need.  But what his child feel about is emptyness because his father isn't at home at all times because of work.  Little did he know that his responsibility as a father should be performed.

FAMILY UNITY

True enough, money cannot buy FAMILY UNITY or togetherness.  And it only comes from spending quality time with your family and giving them adequate love and affection.

GENUINE SECURITY

There is more to a secure future than stockfiling money at home or in the bank.  After all, money can be stolen compared to TIME.  I don't think TIME can be stolen.  I haven't heard such a thing yet.  Besides, Money cannot cure diseases or prevent death.  Genuine security comes from knowing God and his purpose.

PERSONAL CONTENTMENT

Live simply.  Be contented with basic necessities.  "EVEN WHEN A PERSON HAS AN ABUNDANCE HIS LIFE DOES NOT RESULT FROM THE THINGS HE POSSESS."  The greatest satisfaction comes from answering important questions like:  " why are we here?" "what does the future hold?" "How can I fill my spiritual needs"

MALIGAYANG PASKO

What's the best thing I've learned from experience?

Patience is the best thing I've learned from experience.  Patience is love's cousin as some people say it is.  It is accepting the mere fact that life is a journey of ups and downs.  Sometimes we may be annoyed or get anxious at some things, but it is understanding life's stages as we're growing up to be better, matured individuals.

I have learned to be patiently waiting for life's luck.  Its not an easy thing though.  But as you go along the journey, you will learn.  I have learned to calmly hold firm to my choices and follow through with determination.  My endurance was tested.  And I believe it's a long way to go still.  So I better have more patience, and learn everything from it.

HEALTH BENEFITS OF MUSIC

Music as defined in the encyclopedia Americana book, is the art by which a composer, through a performer as intermediary, communicates to a listener certain ideas, feelings, or states of mind.  From wikipedia, the word derives from Greek μουσική (mousike; "art of the Muses").

Music has played an important role in the activities of all people.  Music is everywhere.  And there are quite a plenty of benefits of music especially in one's HEALTH.  Feel good music is good for the Heart.  And playing a musical instrument trains the brain.  Its effects last long even after you quit.

Moreover, Music builds strong reasoning skills and helps, most especially children, learn and remember.  Music helps children do well in Math, Science, and Reading.  Even in older people, too!  At age 60 plus it is advisable for old people to engage in music especially in singing their favorites.  For in that activity can help them remember good memories and even make them active in their daily activities.

ILIGAN STUDIO

Photography is quite an interesting hobby especially at the present times.  Many would opt a picture to be taken as a souvenir of an event in one's life.

In Iligan City, photography starts from the idea of my grandfather, Mr.  Carlos B. Castro Sr.  It came to mind after the war and after his occupation by a military man named Sgt Roland. 

It was during the late of 1940's that my grandfather came in Iligan City and exactly in the year 1947, he establish  a photography shop, named it ILIGAN STUDIO.  Then in 1950 in the place called Dansalan, he establish NATIONAL STUDIO which muslims mostly are the customers.  

Papang as was fondly called by family and friends was given by Sgt. Roland, a ranked official of American Army, camera box type 2x2 & 5x7, rolls of films, paper portraits, stainless basin gallons of chemicals of 3 kinds, & of course money for capital of the business. All the methods, actions, techniques were learned from Sgt. Roland. Through the help of Berry Vidal and Eulalio Mayol, establishing the studio was successful.

Photography that time became popular since military men send letters/pictures to their family.  Leo Mayol started his own Leo Photo Arts in Cagayan de oro. 

National Studio was located in bangolo St. in front of Bato Ali bldg. owned by Chief of Police Diron Tubacan.  Near camp keithly (now Amai pakpak), primero Hosp, Public Market Ma. Cristina bus terminal, Ramain Movie Theatre and Bangolo bridge.  Salvador Lluch was the governor of Dansalan, capital of Lanao province.  Magazines from New York were a lot helpful.  Then 8x10 camera was send for quality portrait photography.

In 1978, what was named Iligan Studio was then changed to Castro Photography.  Through hardwork, sacrifice, patience, humility and perseverance Papang had reached his goals in life.  Papang's children are now respected Professionals each having their own family, and only one who is a full-pledged nun.  Papang said, "  having a good diet and prayers to God as well as good deeds can make you live long and strong in faith.  Have a great life!"

Heart is like a glass, very fragile.  It also resembles a mirror for when it is broken, even if the pieces were back together, it can never be the same again.


Sometimes, we are challenged in our chosen journey.  We came to know a friend of the opposite sex who really understands you, who you can talk with anything.  You tell your spouse " We're just friends" when at some point,he/she were privy to your lingering conversations.  Likely, the friendship that has built had become too close and you need to address the situation.

It happens to anyone of us at anytime. And there are a plenty of reasons why such things happen.  One obvious reason is vulnerability.  Vulnerability of attention to someone else appears to a situation when a spouse avoids talking about certain issues. Besides, at times the feeling of neglect or unappreciated.

"Safeguard your heart, the bible says.

It is quite true that developing romantic attachment, when you are already married is subversive.   When there's a problem to solve, always remember of the commitment you and your spouse had.  Sending out clear signals that you are already committed to someone significant in your life should mean always wearing your wedding ring.  Also by  keeping pictures of your spouse/ family in your work and even just in your wallet is another way.

A person should decide what he/she will not tolerate when it comes to behaviour with the opposite sex.  For example, talking about marital problems to opposite sex and going out for drinks with them is quite not appropriate.

A person should not become too close to a member of the opposite sex.  He/she must stand up for a committed relationship and take steps to protect your marriage.



And one important thing is PRAYER.  Prayers keep us patient and strong in times of tribulation.

The Starfish

Once upon a time there was a wise man who used to go to the ocean to do his writing. He had a habit of walking on the beach before he began his work.

 Walking along the shore, as he looked down the beach, he saw a human figure moving like dancer.He smiled to himself to think of someone who would dance to the day. So he began to walk faster to catch up. As he got closer, he saw that it was a young man and the young man wasn't dancing, but instead he was reaching down to the shore, picking up something and very gently throwing it into the ocean.

As he got closer he called out, "Good morning! What are you doing?'

The young man paused, looked up and replied, " Throwing starfish in the ocean"

" I guess I should have asked, " why are you throwing starfish in the ocean?"

"The sun is up, and the tide is going out, and if I don't throw them in they'll die.

"But, young man, don't you realize that their are miles and ,miles of beach, and starfish all along it.  you can't possibly make a difference!"

The young man listened politely. Then bent down, picked up another starfish and threw it into the sea, past the breaking waves and said, " It made a difference for that o e.  :-)

5 IMPORTANT LESSONS

  I'd like to share this beautiful allegory with you:

A pencilmaker told the pencils 5 important lessons:

1st, everything you do will always leave a mark.
2nd, you can always correct the mistakes you make by its eraser at the top.
3rd, what is important is what's inside you.
4th, in life, you will undergo painful sharpenings which will make you a better pencil.

And finally, the most important is...to be the best pencil you can be. You must allow yourself to be held and guided by the hand that holds you.

Thoughts about Loneliness

     These times, where there's a plenty of ways to communicate, there has never been a time when the means of communicating were so numerous and easy to come by.  Yet in this mass connection world, still many feel very lonely.  BUT WHY?  From my observation,  nothing really beats a genuine smile and warm affection that can be seen in a person's eyes.

     In the fast paced life,  rarely can we see homes with family members share meals, share conversations.  Many of us, I know, would opt to use cellular phones to connect with family members especially when we're far apart.

MY NEW YEAR's WISH

          How I really wish  I could have this phone this year.  Long I have waited for a phone that's quite lighter than my other phones, a phone with super fast wireless connecting to more networks all around the world.  Apple's iPhone5 is what I'm longing for this year.  Because it is the only gadget I know that could help me in my present job as well as other activities daily with its cool features.  

Hopefully,  I can get it on my birth month--August or on the christmas season.  =)  i'd really be happy and grateful...so much grateful!
